7 Tips to Keep Your House Clean Between Professional Visits

Cleaning is just one of those things that are… inevitable. It takes time and energy and sometimes can feel like it’s all you do. Here are 7 tips that will help you keep your house clean in between house cleaning visits so you have more free time for fun!

  • Clean as you go. Wipe up spills when they happen, put away hair products after use, and clean the stove when you’re finished. Things like this will help cleaning seem less overwhelming when you can focus on just one project at a time.
  • Take off your shoes when you get home. Shoes track in dirt, grass, dust… and… who knows what else. You can easily keep your floors looking cleaner by kicking off those shoes and walking around barefoot, in socks, or in some cozy house slippers.
  • Organize with Storage Bins. Having a place for your items helps eliminate clutter. Storage bins can keep things looking neat and tidy while keeping them organized. Clear bins stored in a basement or closet can be helpful for seasonal items. While items that you use more often can be stored in decorative bins in your bathroom or living room.
  • Picking up before the cleaner comes. When your house cleaner arrives, they need to devote their time to the actual cleaning. Make sure to pick up toys, clear off countertops as best you can, and move dirty laundry to one spot. Making floors and countertops easy to clean or vacuum will help your cleaner have more time to work, or can save you money on the time they have to spend at your house.
  • Daily & Weekly Cleaning. Wiping down counters, cleaning the bathroom, and sweeping at least once or twice a week helps eliminate germs and dirt.
  • Remember the fridge! Cleaning out your refrigerator regularly can help eliminate smells in your kitchen. Toss any old or expired food in the trash. Wipe the inside with hot, soapy water or an all-purpose cleaner. Then wipe with clean water and dry with a clean towel. Or, contact us, to help you with this project and remove inside drawers and shelves for a complete refrigerator deep clean.
  • Focus on main rooms. Rooms that are used more often – need more cleaning. Maybe you don’t need to clean the unused guest bedroom in between house cleanings. In that case, just focus your time on your bedroom, the main living room, bathroom, and kitchen to help keep things clean until your next cleaning service.
